Playlist: S·A·M·H·A·I·N
Samhain (pronounced SOW-WIN) is the pagan festival that marks the shift from autumn to winter — from the golden warmth of yellow leaves to the biting cold of shadowy mornings — and, although it partially falls on Halloween, it is a more sincere and reverent celebration of this seasonal change and the thinning of the veil between the human and spirit realm. I am certainly no druid, but I do respectfully appreciate the ancient sentiment of Samhain and, thus, I put together a playlist to accompany us on our journey into the darker half of the year. Don’t fret! There’s just enough spooky vibes to help the 31st of October retain the sweet, nostalgic tint of your bygone youth, lit by jack-o-lantern light. Enjoy during a candlelight card game with your lover (accompanied by a mug of mulled wine) or crank up the volume in your ear buds on a dusky, chilly walk with your face nestled into a fuzzy scarf. Better yet, put together your very own Samhain celebration; you already have the perfect soundtrack.
Tasting Notes:
Flickering porch light
Scuffed leather boots
Owl eyes
Creaking wood floors
Swig of scotch from the bottle
Bare branches in the wind
Wool sweater
Drippy candlesticks
Hazy moon
