Playlist: Galentines
Have you ever met someone in person or online that you immediately felt undeniably drawn to? Inspired by? Enamored with? For me, that’s Katharine. I started following Kat on Tumblr circa 2009 and instantly loved her way of being in the world; Her curatorial eye, her boldness, her vulnerability, her tenderness and sassiness.
In 2017 — after quietly admiring and pining after her friendship for far too many years — her name suddenly popped up beside the words “is following you” on Instagram. I did a happy dance and then immediately told her how wonderful I thought she was. Three years later and I now count her as a dear friend, yet I still get a little starry-eyed when she tells me she loves me back. If there’s any gal that I’d want to be my Galentine, it’s her.
Together, Kat and I have created a playlist just for you and your gal pals to help you celebrate this impending holiday. It’s something we embarked upon a long while ago but it feels like kismet that this is the year we are finally sharing it with you, because it is certainly a year that deserves some extra special love. We want you to remember that your friendships are worth celebrating and going the extra mile for. They are deserving of affection, love letters, flower deliveries, and candlelit Zoom dinners. They are worthy of having their very own soundtrack, too.
