Playlist: Waking Up Spring
Spring is here, at long last. Although it hasn’t quite yet settled-in in our corner of the world. Nonetheless, I’m welcoming it and coaxing it’s green beauty with this gentle playlist. Nearly fully instrumental (save for a line or two), it’s a delightful accompaniment to your morning tea — in the cool white light of the early day — or an afternoon gazing out of a rainy windowpane. Violin strings, plucking fingers, piano keys, the deep hum of a cello; they all come together to create winsome and nostalgic moments constructed from thoughtful melodies.
As I listen while I write, I can’t help but be whisked into some deeply precious memories that my body holds. Like playing outside as a child and feeling wet leaves brush against my shins as I ran through the garden, or driving through the foggy hills of the Highlands with the endless sky of heavy, thunderous clouds shadowing the green earth, spotted with sheep as far as the eye could see.
Isn’t music so wonderful in that way? It can take us to places within ourselves that have been waiting to be noticed and remembered. Wherever these songs take you, I hope you enjoy them and savor their artistry and unexpected complexity as much as I do.
